Bishop’s Garden & Washington National Cathedral Engagement Session

On a beautiful sunny day, Michella and John had a romantic engagement session at the Bishop's Gardens and The National Cathedral Church in Washington, D.C. Their engagement photoshoot was filled with so many modern and editorial couples poses.

With their wedding fast approaching, Michella and John wanted their engagement session done immediately for their invitations! Believe it or not, these photos were shot in December. It was a beautiful day with overcast clouds. Michella is one of the first clients to support my business, so this shoot was extra special. It’s been such a joy photographing her and now her fiancé and soon-to-be husband. These are some of the reasons why I treasure my work!

This was my first time meeting John, and he was very excited and happy to take the photos. Both of them did so well! Michella wore a beautiful knee-length periwinkle dress, and John wore khaki pants with a black blazer and light blue shirt. The engagement outfits complement each other so perfectly. During the whole session, they laughed, and were having the time of their lives!

The Bishop Gardens is a beautiful area next to the National Cathedral church. There were some beautiful cherry blossom trees, gardens, and a few landmarks on the ground. We took beautiful couple portraits along the grounds and then met her way back to the church.

Although I’ve been to the National Cathedral before, the beauty of the structures always amazes me. And on this day, the lighting was stunning, and we took pictures under. It’s beautiful, with arcs, staircases, open hallways, and endless amounts of incredible backdrops. It's seriously one of the hidden gems in D.C. for romantic and editorial engagement portraits. Michella and John were so much fun and we even chatted about their wedding day. We collaborated on planning to executing styling photography and even budgeting. I always try to be super helpful and give any best recommendations to alleviate any stress for their day. I cannot wait to shoot their beautiful March wedding!
